My Beauty Routine while Traveling

Best travel size products

You guys know I love to travel. This year alone, I’ve been to Spain, Morocco, California, Canada, and New York. Let’s just say my frequent flier balance is looking pretty good theses days. I returned from New York City a week ago and am already thinking about my next trip. There is a good chance I’m suffering from a small case of wanderlust!

I love almost everything about being on the road, but it can be tough to keep up with my usual beauty routine. TSA limits how many liquids I can carry-on the plane and even if I’m checking a bag, I really don’t have the space to bring a bunch of full sized beauty bottles. If I’m being totally honest, I’d rather use that space to bring an extra pair of shoes (or two). Over-packing aside, I was thrilled when Moroccanoil asked if I wanted to talk about their extensive line of travel products. I’ve used Moroccanoil for years so I was excited to take the travel size bottles along with me last week to the Big Apple.

I absolutely love Moroccanoil’s Hydrating Heroes travel set, which includes their Hydrating Shampoo, Hydrating Conditioner, Intense Hydrating Mask and the Moroccanoil Treatment. The Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner really help keep my hair healthy, especially on the road. Airplanes are always so dry and seem to suck all the moisture out of my locks. I drink as much water as I physically can, but mixing in hydrating products makes a huge difference for me.

Fun fact about me: I use a hair mask before my conditioner every single time I wash my hair. I started this goofy habit shortly after I moved to Arizona 7 years ago. We have crazy hard water here so it is the only thing I’ve found to keep my hair from feeling brittle and dry. I’ve tried a ton of different masks and am a HUGE fan of the Moroccanoil Hydrating Mask. Even my hair dresser will comment on my healthy hair, despite the fact I color it and use heat pretty much daily. I’ve also used the Moroccanoil Treatment for at least 6+ years. I put the oil on the ends of my hair before I dry it with a hair dryer to keep my hair manageable.

Like most women, I’m flat out obsessed with dry shampoo. On days where I don’t have time to wash my hair, I’ll spray on dry shampoo and use my curling iron to give my hair a little bit of fresh life. Moroccanoil makes a travel sized Light Tones Dry Shampoo for blondes like me, as well as a Dark Tones version for brunettes. I also find my hair gets greasy from using different water. A couple sprays of dry shampoo and the greasy hair is instantly gone. Whoever invented dry shampoo deserves a really, really big award from women all over the world.

Wavy Hair

After curling my hair, I use a Styling Cream to help smooth out my hair. Since my hair is naturally wavy, the styling cream helps keep it from getting huge, especially when humidity is in the picture. However, on days when I straighten my hair instead of curl it, I’ll occasionally use a Dry Texture Spray to give it a little extra volume. Finally, I polish my hair off with a little bit of hair spray to control the flyaways on top. I prefer a Medium Hold Hairspray so my hair still has natural movement, but there is also a Strong Hold option.

Street Chic

I don’t drastically change my make-up routine while traveling, but I make sure to apply a Face Lotion with SPF before my make-up. This helps keep my skin moisturized and protected from the sun while I’m touring around town.

I also had the opportunity to try a few new Moroccanoil products for the first time while in NYC. I love a good scrub and the Moroccanoil Body Buff really helped exfoliate my dry skin (plus it smells really, really good). The Dry Body Oil is basically a super powered body lotion. It is dry texture and not greasy at all. So much better than the freebie hotel lotions I usually use while traveling! I personally loved using this one on my legs after shaving. Finally, I had no idea Pure Argan Oil could be used for so many reasons. It can be used on hair, face, skin and even nails as an all-in-one moisturizer. So easy if you only want to bring along a small number of products.
