My Top 5 Tricks for Healthy Summer Hair

We all need these natural hair care products

I don’t know about you guys, but summer wreaks havoc on my hair. Between the sun, chlorine, travel and humidity, I really should just wear a hat until the Pumpkin Spice Lattes start to roll out. However, due to a few small changes in my daily routine, I’ve managed to keep my hair pretty healthy so far this year. Here are my top 5 tricks for healthy summer hair.

Note: A big thanks to L’BRI PURE n’ NATURAL for sponsoring this post. All opinions included are my own.

Tip 1: Switch to All Natural Products

It’s crazy how many harsh chemicals, dyes and fragrances are in beauty products. I’ve slowly started switching my beauty products out for more natural options and my latest change has been my shampoo and conditioner. As it turns out, my hair approves of that change.

You guys might already be familiar with L’BRI PURE n’ NATURAL from my summer skin post a few weeks back. The first ingredient in all their products is aloe, which has unique healing and rejuvenating properties. Ever try putting aloe on a cut or burn? It’s crazy how much it helps. No surprise, it’s amazing for your hair as well. I’ve been loving the L’BRI Aloe Nourishing Shampoo and Conditioner and I know you will, too.

Tip 2: Use a Hair Masque

When I first moved to Arizona, I was shocked what the hard water did to my hair. It made it limp, dull and greasy. I seriously tried EVERYTHING and nothing helped, until I added a hair mask into my routine. Total game changer, I’m not even kidding.

I expected Arizona to be dry since it is the desert and all, but I didn’t know how much moisture it was sucking out of my hair. Adding a hair masque after I shampoo has really helped my hair stay shiny and moisturized. Most people only need to use them one a week or so, but I use one every single time I wash my hair after I shampoo. Probably overkill for most people, but it works for me. I’m LOVING the L’BRI Hair Repair Masque Deep Conditioning Treatment.

Tip 3: Wear a Hat

I know, I know. I said in my first paragraph I should probably just wear a hat until Halloween. I don’t mean all the time. I do mean in certain situations. I’ve found when it is super sunny or windy, keeping a hat on my head really helps prevent damage. The sun sucks the life (and the color) of of my hair, so keeping a hat on my head at the pool or beach really protects my locks. I talk all about my favorite hat in my Spring Amazon Post.

Tip 4: Avoid chlorine (most of the time)

When it is 110 degrees out like it regularly is in AZ, the pool is the only option to beat the heat. While I hate being the mom that doesn’t want to get her hair wet, I do like it when my hair is strong and healthy. I try to avoid getting my hair wet most of the time. That doesn’t mean I don’t periodically join my kids for a cannonball contest.

Tip 5: Don’t Wash Your Hair Everyday

This is every woman in America’s favorite tip. I know it’s old news, but it is now unnecessary to go through the whole wash and blow dry process every single day. Pretty sure I hear angels singing from above. I’ve found that if I wait to wash my hair every other day, I seem to keep my hair a tad healthier. Likely because of less heat and processing, but whatever it is, it works. I usually will just give my hair a quick curl and I’m on my way with an extra 30 minutes in my pocket.
